Job Description

The University of St. Michael’s College is one of the oldest and most distinctive post-secondary institutions in Ontario and one of three universities federated with the University of Toronto. Founded in 1852 by the Congregation of St. Basil from Annonay, France, the university offers undergraduate students’ full access to the complete range of courses offered by the University of Toronto, as well as its own unique academic programs. Reporting to the President & Vice-Chancellor, the Executive Director, Advancement will lead and implement the University’s advancement annual and multiyear plans and strategies, ensure the achievement of transformation fundraising goals, and build and enhance alumni engagement to advance St. Michael’s strategic and institutional priorities. The incumbent will provide exemplary leadership, direction, and mentorship to a team of advancement professionals, and build capacity in major gifts, stewardship, annual leadership giving, and alumni engagement. The Executive Director, Advancement is a member of St. Michael’s College senior leadership team and the University of Toronto-wide Senior Advancement Leadership Team, and collaborates with senior leadership, faculty and staff throughout the institution on prospect management, goal setting, and strategic planning to ensure alignment with university standards, guidelines, and procedures that protect academic integrity and promote best practice, excellence, and equity in advancement.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic and results-oriented advancement professional with an established track record of proactively increasing philanthropic revenue and capital campaign planning and alumni engagement experience. They will bring a minimum of eight years’ experience in senior positions within the Advancement field, and a demonstrated track record of securing seven figure major gifts, preferably within a university setting. The ideal candidate must also be knowledgeable of prospect research, gift processing software, online giving strategies, traditional and new media and other emerging technologies that will optimize outreach to potential donors. The ideal candidate must possess outstanding leadership skills, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, be able to represent St. Michael’s interests to a wide spectrum of constituent groups and collaborative partners, and most fundamentally, have an ability to connect with and engage alumni, and prospective donors in advancing the mission and vision of The University of St. Michael’s College.

Salary Range: $150,000-175,000
