Job Description
Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services is a multi-site, multi-faceted organization providing client supports, day program and other services for individuals with a developmental disability
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will advance, uphold and support the organization’s trusted and well-earned reputation for providing a broad range of essential supports and services to individuals and families across the communities we serve. This hands-on, senior leadership role is accountable for:
- Developing and delivering a dynamic, relevant, multi-faceted communications strategy to champion the exchange of information and feedback, impacts and outcomes, needs and priorities between and among the organization and all of its stakeholders.
- Driving and enabling positive change across the organization by leading its community engagement strategy, strengthening social, community, and economic supports through innovative partnerships and relationships
- Developing, executing, evaluating, and growing the organization’s Communications strategy, including:
- Developing and executing the annual and multi-year communications plan
- Co-Leading the Employee Connection Committee (ECC) to ensure alignment of all communication and engagement activities with the organization’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity.
- Lead the Communications Committee, ensuring representation from across all functional areas, to ensure a collaborative, supportive and cohesive communication
- Developing, executing, evaluating, and growing the organization’s Community Engagement program:
- Proactively seeking, identifying, and pursuing grant opportunities
- Establishing positive relationships with individuals, families, community members and donors/supporters, including government representatives, members of the media, granting organizations, and partner organizations.
- Planning, coordinating, leading, and attending all events, campaigns and community building activities within the organization’s community engagement program.
- Establishing collaborative, mutually beneficial relationships with the organization’s volunteers through its volunteer program
- Ensuring alignment and synergies between the organization’s communication and engagement strategy, and its Vision, Mission and Values.
The ideal candidate will be a multitasker team leader and a self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills. A post-secondary education in a related field, supported by 5 years of experience in delivering a multi-faceted fund development strategy is required. Knowledge of Waterloo Region, its communities and its not-for-profit and human services landscape is a strong asset.
