Job Description
Strong Minds Strong Kids, Psychology Canada (SMSKPC) is a new brand from The Psychology Foundation of Canada. As a registered charity, they are dedicated to nurturing resilience in kids with the use of psychological science so they can manage, learn, and grow from the many challenges in life. They help infants, children and youth build a solid foundation of mental health before problems or issues may begin. They are governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees comprised of leaders in clinical psychology, academia, marketing and communications, and business.
Manager, Programs & Community Partnerships
12 – 18 month Maternity Leave
Location: Remote Working Opportunity
Reporting to the President and Executive Director, of Strong Minds Strong Kids, Psychology Canada (SMSKPC) the Manager, Programs & Community Partners on a full-time basis will develop, promote and implement various psychology-based programs to communities across Canada. The Manager will nurture and build existing relationships and create new partnerships (with Public Health, Social Workers, Mental Health Professionals and Educators for example) to support and deliver our programs to parents and children/youth. The Manager, Programs & Community Partnerships manages a direct report, coordinator, who helps support this role. There are three key areas of responsibilities:
- Program Development and Management
- Relationship Building and Management with Community/Delivery Partners
- Liaison, management and implementation of funded projects
Experience and Skills:
- 5-7 years’ experience in health promotion and program/project management:
- Passion for the vision and mission
- Good understanding of child/youth development, adult education, child and youth education system
- Understanding of stress management and attachment practice and processes is an asset
- Experience working in support of young people from marginalized backgrounds or experiencing barriers
- Strong virtual program development and facilitation skills with a proven track record
- Knowledgeable of performance measurement indicators and with program evaluation
- Strong program management especially in health promotion
- Strong project management skills, to lead the development of projects from conception to launch and ongoing dissemination, and demonstrated experience meeting deadlines while working either independently, or with multiple internal or external stakeholders
- Proven track record of relationship building:
- Ability to work collaboratively, respectfully and professionally within a team as well as the ability to function independently
- Strong communication skills coupled with a professional phone manner
- Funder and donor stewardship skills
- Strong work ethic, self-motivation, independence and flexibility:
- Critical thinking skills along with sound judgment and proficiency in making/implementing appropriate decisions
- Strong administration skills along with effective written and oral communication skills including accurate report writing skills. French language is considered an asset.
- Flexible, reliable and able to take initiative.
- Agile with ability to multi-task
- Experience in a small shop environment and remote working
- Ability to work from home; access to computer, high-speed internet
- Good track record of overseeing budgets of $500k to $750k
- Experience with managing direct report
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, health promotion, education or related discipline. Master’s degree would be considered an asset.
