We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the development and implementation of the Annual & Leadership Giving portfolio. This will include prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition plans, with special focus on parents, old boys and friends of the College.
The Senior Manager, Annual & Leadership Giving will contribute to the overall Advancement goal by employing sound revenue generation strategies for annual giving, with special focus on monthly and leadership giving (donations up to the $100k level).

Reporting to the Associate Vice-Principal, Advancement, the Senior Manager will create and monitor optimized annual giving donor segmentation strategies and plans. The Senior Manager will lead the execution of all portfolio marketing appeals, including annual giving plans, solicitation calendars, list management and queries, critical paths, creative briefs, copy briefs, instructions to fulfillment houses and setting online giving pages. As well, this role will ensure there is a strong stewardship program in place for Annual Fund donors.
As part of the UCC Advancement team, the Senior Manager will work closely with colleagues to ensure donors and volunteers have an excellent experience that enriches their engagement with the school.
Please note that the hiring range for this position is $75,000 – $95,000 per annum, plus a wide range of benefits and perquisites that are available to all UCC employees.
This position will work in office on our beautiful campus a minimum of two days per week.

Advancement @ UCC
The Advancement Team at Upper Canada College is collectively responsible for advancing the mission of the College through meaningful philanthropic relationships, community relations and communications.
Every dollar contributed supports the educational mission of UCC, whether by contributing to our sector-leading financial assistance program that enhances the accessibility, diversity and impact of the UCC experience for all students and supporting the ongoing development and excellence of our facilities, programs, and faculty, through to the provision of equipment and resources for teaching and learning, athletics, arts and culture.
The Advancement team is currently comprised of 22 staff organized in four units: Marketing & Communications, Community Relations, Advancement Operations, and Development. We work closely with faculty and staff across the School, and we also work very closely with alumni and parent volunteers.
Fundraising Initiatives (85%)
- Contribute to the overall Advancement goal by employing sound revenue generation strategies for annual giving, with special focus on monthly and leadership giving
- Retain donors through employing excellence stewardship, leading to renewal, and increased giving
- Provide strategic direction in the development and implementation of targeted direct response marketing campaigns designed to achieve growth objectives while maintaining effective cost ratios
- Manage the execution of all portfolio marketing appeals, including annual giving plans, solicitation calendars, list management and queries, critical paths, creative briefs, copy briefs, instructions to fulfillment houses and setting online giving pages
- Work with, support, and motivate alumni and parent volunteers on class and project appeals, peer to peer fundraising, and other fundraising activities
- Create and monitor optimized donor segmentation and complex plans
- Ensure that a strong stewardship program for Annual Fund donors, including Leadership and monthly givers, is in place
- Respond to donor enquiries in a prompt and timely manner
- Follow up on donor pledges
Data Management (15%)
- Work with Gift Processors to ensure accurate and timely entry of donor/donation data and related information (coding, recognition name, etc.)
- Support reconciliation activities with the Finance Department analyze and resolve variances
- Support the preparation of tax receipts and corresponding thank you letters on an ongoing basis
- Ensure timely and accurate acknowledgements of all donations
- Provide ongoing reports and statistical and financial information
- Collaborate with colleagues, and provide general assistance and support as needed, as part of the Advancement Team
- May serve as a mentor to students for International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum projects
Key Experience, Knowledge & Competencies
- Team player who interacts with staff and external stakeholders in a respectful and professional manner; Ability to work effectively as part of the Advancement Team
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices, and generalist experience in fundraising
- Ability to develop donor appeals, acknowledgements and other related correspondence as required
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines in an organized manner
- Strong understanding of donor database management and gift processing
- Expertise in direct mail and digital marketing strategies would be helpful
- Ability to determine and assess requirements for assigned fundraising initiatives
- Familiar with the principles and best practices for engaging and working with volunteers
- Willingness to adapt and change based on the unique and diverse needs of individuals
- Commitment to honesty, justice, fairness and equity
- A demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and good judgment, takes initiatives and respects the confidentiality of sensitive information and materials

- Ability to interpret policies, procedures and guidelines and apply appropriately
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Minimum university education, with at least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a not-for-profit environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
