The Division Manager, Fundraising, under the direction of the Director, Integrated Marketing & Development, is directly responsible for ensuring the effective operation of all fundraising initiatives at Toronto Humane Society. This position oversees all personnel operating within the fundraising division, and the associated relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external. This role is responsible for effectively identifying opportunities that will drive the division, growing financial revenues and enable seamless operations within the fundraising in accordance with the organizational budget, strategic and productivity goals. This position directly manages the Events and Gaming, Monthly Donors, Grants and Foundations, Corporate Partnerships, Major Donors, Donor Relations, and Database Administration positions as well as all staff under their supervision.  Salary Range:  $65,000 – $85,000

Job Duties

Management

• Accountable for building, executing and driving the program and service delivery of Toronto Humane Society’s Fundraising programs, maintaining viable and sustainable growth revenue generation and service delivery
• Develop an operational plan that translates the strategic goals and objectives of the organization into practical actions, as well as defining and monitoring performance metrics and targets consistent with goals
• Evaluate new and existing programs and initiatives, along with the departmental operations, to identify, develop and propose plans for areas that require improvement
• Coach and oversee management of all fundraising staff and volunteers, collaborating with other departments and programs to provide consistent direction, facilitate innovative fundraising techniques and drive donor acquisition and retention
• Provide leadership in developing program, organizational, and financial plans
• Drive commitment to service excellence and appropriate decision-making in all staff members
• Communicate priorities to staff, assess staff productivity, and provide formal and informal feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis
• Foster, promote, support and drive inclusion and influence others to promote, embrace and progress Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at THS.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of various Toronto Humane Society policies
• Responsible for direct work of divisional staff, inclusive of the delivery and adherence to organizational standards of animal care, client engagement and service quality
• Ensure the effectiveness of employees through strategic hiring, assignment of duties, discipline, and dismissal, as well as oversee indirect staffing requirements and hiring decisions
• Administrate the donor CRM and online donation platforms, to include developing and maintaining data entry protocols, problem solving and control of data and reporting
• Assist with the development and maintenance of various Toronto Humane Society fundraising and CRM implementation policies
• Lead and foster a culture of openness and inclusivity within all department staff, strive to build a team that values and embodies the values of the organization
• Liaise among management and other stakeholders to ensure that goals are achieved, processes are improved, and resolutions provided to problems
• Oversee program projects to ensure effective milestone planning and timely completion of deliverables

Administrative

• Administer the organization’s funds according to the approved departmental budget, monitor and review divisional financial expenditures
• Monitor, conduct and prepare monthly reports on any and all relevant metrics related to fundraising initiatives
• Directly manage and facilitate the Direct Mail Fundraising Program Initiatives, including working with third party vendors to pull donor lists, organizing the creative assets for the program (imagery and copy), and working with printing and mail house to ensure delivery.
• Facilitate and communicate effectively with department managers, business unit leaders, project managers, and other stakeholders
• Know of external regulatory bodies governing the organization; and ensure compliance with regulations including but not limited to Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
• Other duties as required in the day-to-day operation of the Society

Compliance

• Administration of disciplinary action of supervised staff when required.
• Review training programs to ensure compliance and workplace feasibility
• Know of external regulatory bodies governing the organization, and all Toronto Humane Society policies and protocols, and ensure staff work compliance within the regulations
• Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, and in-service training to further education, skills, and knowledge, including pursuit/maintenance of CFRE designation
• Conduct objective and constructive performance reviews as scheduled
• Ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards including safe work practices
• Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders
• Ensure that any building and maintenance related issues are reported to the Manager, Facilities
• Understand and use correct reporting procedures for serious or unusual incidents, including but not limited to client injury or illness, incidents of aggression, or injury involving employees
• Work in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA and its regulations, including understanding and adhering to the requirements of the Health and Safety Manual, and any other rules and regulations established by Toronto Humane Society

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in sales or fundraising
• Minimum 5 years of management experience
• CFRE designation or pursuit thereof
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essentials duties of the role.
• Understanding of and experience with organizational structure to manage cross-departmental and cross-disciplinary resource allocation
• A clear and solid understanding of the issues faced by the organization and the industry
• A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
• Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with key external stakeholders
