The Direct Marketing Officer builds and fosters strong relationships with our community, staff and friends through programs that emphasize donor acquisition, retention and cultivation. The ideal candidate will enjoy a diverse portfolio, and show an aptitude for designing and managing multi-faceted projects. Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Database, Donor Services & Annual Giving team, the Direct Marketing Officer will:
- Proactively seek out new initiatives to grow the Annual Giving program to align with the 5-year strategic plan
- Support the development and execution of various integrated annual giving campaigns to support donor acquisition, reactivation and renewal
- Craft compelling stories and calls to action to boost direct mail, e-philanthropy and digital marketing programs
- Promote in-hospital initiatives to foster staff engagement in Foundation activities
- Oversee the 50/50 Community and PayDay Payout staff lotteries
- Oversee the St. Joe’s Miracle Worker Program
- Develop and support event and tribute supporter conversion strategies
- Enhance and support the in memoriam and tribute giving programs
- Engage with the Hospital’s Grateful Patient audience through direct mail and direct marketing tactics
- Promote and support DIY fundraising initiatives with local community members
- Develop and support employee engagement and giving campaigns at the Hospital
- Build relationships with local companies/employers to grow employer matching gift programs within the community
- Engage with Hospital departments and staff to source donor/patient stories
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and closely monitor revenue and expense targets
Collaboration and Cross Functional Relationships
- Work collaboratively with Marketing & Communications to develop In Hospital/Direct Marketing programs to tell the St. Joe’s story and increase community engagement
- Work closely with the Manager, Major Gifts and Manager of Estates & Gift Planning to ensure strategic integration of the major, annual, mid-level and planned giving programs to grow the giving pipeline
- Work closely with the Senior Development Officer, Donor Relations & Stewardship to develop stewardship initiatives and foster relationships to enhance the donor journey
- Act as primary contact for mail houses, printing partners, and Canada Post, and coordinate all mass printing/mailings with third party vendors
- This position may be called upon to assist with gift entry and tax receipting duties, and other projects to further the mission of the Foundation
Skills Required:
- University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline
- 2+ years experience working in direct marketing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong time management skills and ability to adapt to shifting deadlines
- Project management experience
- Adept at story telling
- Ability to work as a team player and be solutions oriented
- Experience crafting direct mail appeals an asset
- Non-profit experience an asset
Salary and Benefits: $52,000-$58,000
