A position for a Development Officer to focus on growing corporate and industry partnerships is critical to the diversification of our fundraising programs and capitalizes on Mohawk College’s innovative and collaborative partnership with over 2,000 industry-leading businesses in our region. This position reports to the Director, Philanthropy.
Managing a portfolio of donors and prospects, and providing professional expertise to College leaders, faculty and staff who engage daily with premium corporate partners across multiple sectors, the Development Officer, Corporate and Industry Partners is responsible for generating revenue for priority initiatives through:

Mohawk College Foundation is committed to building on its decades of corporate philanthropy to create student awards, support research projects, capital and equipment needs, and other funding programs designed to help regional businesses and corporations recruit top talent from Mohawk and work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to meet business needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop a portfolio of donors and prospects and engage through stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation activities in collaboration with college partners and foundation team members.
- Develop a suite of materials for the target prospects, including cases for support, sponsorship and other proposal packages, grant submissions, briefing documents and marketing and other presentation materials.
- Develop a gift in kind solicitation strategy for equipment, supplies, and services and support inquiries that are made by both internal and external parties.
- Organize events and meetings that enable external partners to interact with students and faculty at the college and at corporate locations, and attend community events to increase visibility and awareness.
- Develop and execute a corporate-focused student awards program and ancillary activities and benefits that encourage more interaction between students and their future employers.
- Participate in regular prospect/pipeline clearance, management and strategy meetings and develop prospect lists for sponsorship in collaboration with Major Giving staff.
- Prepare Call Reports in a timely fashion to collect all intelligence, outcomes and actions required and update Raiser’s Edge to reflect all fundraising activity including Call Report outcomes, actions, notes, intelligence, and relationships connections.
- Prepare and present impact reports to thoughtfully thank, recognize and report back to donors.
- Monitor funding opportunities and agreements to ensure sponsors and partners receive appropriate benefits and recognition.
- Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of related education and business experience.
- Three+ years fundraising experience and a successful track record of soliciting and securing gifts is an asset.
- Must have strong communication (oral and written), presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with fundraising in the post-secondary environment is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience with corporate clients and sponsor relationships.
- A proven track record of success in developing and executing strategies, project management, and producing a variety of material.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative team culture.
- Has a high level of maturity, professional ethics and personal integrity.
- Experience with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Constituent Management Software such as Raiser’s Edge.
- Proven ability to think strategically and work independently in driving new initiatives and enhancing existing programs and be able to effectively articulate these initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to meet competing deadlines in an organized manner.
- Strong customer service-oriented approach complemented by excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required, including occasional evenings or weekends.
