Development Officer, Community Partner – MISSION SERVICES OF HAMILTON

The Development Officer, Community Partners is responsible for securing financial and practical (goods) gifts through the Sponsor a Family program and through seasonal food and gift drives. The Development Officer, Community Partners also supports third-party events and manages Mission Services’ fundraising events. The Development Officer, Community Partners will act as an ambassador of the organization, presenting in-person and virtually to a variety of organizations including local businesses, schools and service clubs. The Development Officer, Community Partners will grow the community partnerships portfolio through cultivating current relationships and seeking new opportunities throughout the Hamilton area.

Salary Range:  $47,975 – $56,560

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Coordinate Sponsor a Family, fundraising, and seasonal food and gift drives, connecting with programs to keep up to date on needed items
• Act as the primary point of contact for community relations queries
• Create and update Third Party Event Toolkit and Food and Gift Drive Toolkit
• Manage Mission Services’ internal and third-party fundraising events including, but not limited to, developing critical paths, researching and recommending event ideas, negotiating agreements and contracts, evaluating event ideas with potential supporters, and tracking event budgets and variances
• Work with the Development Team Members to identify possible sponsors and sponsorship levels
• Represent Mission Services at external events and meetings with service groups, churches, clubs, schools or businesses, and highlight the organization’s work
• Research prospective and current donors to determine interest in supporting events, drives, or prize donations; respond in a timely fashion to emails and calls from donors
• Ensure gifts are properly received, acknowledged, and recorded in Raisers Edge
• Steward donors through thank you cards, personal notes on tax receipts, phone calls, social media, or newsletter
• Interact with other Mission Services’ departments so as to understand their programs and clientele, in order to share this information with potential and current donors, as well as through community presentations
• Create and implement, based on department intentions and Mission Services’ strategic plan, an annual strategy for food and gift drives and events
• Participate in the overall strategic development and execution of Mission Services’ Development team communications, marketing, and resource development plan
• Contribute to newsletters, advertising, social media accounts, website, and other marketing and communications materials
• Adhere to a strict policy of confidentiality
• Work safely, identify any health and safety concerns and report to management, and follow Mission Services’ workplace health and safety policies and procedures at all times
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum college diploma or university degree in a relevant field
• Minimum three (3) years experience working in a not-for-profit setting
• Strong verbal and presentation skills
• High-level ability in organizing fundraising events
• Proven ability to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner while meeting deadlines
• Proven accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to demonstrate independence and resourcefulness while working in a team-oriented environment
• Proficiency in MS Office applications and Raisers Edge
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite or Canva an asset

HOURS OF WORK:
• 37.5 hours per week typically Monday through Friday
• Some travel in the community is required to attend events/functions

COMPENSATION:
• *Benefits after 3-months of continuous, active employment

REQUIREMENTS:
• Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check
• Two-Step Tuberculosis Skin Test
• Proof of double COVID-19 vaccination, or willingness to register to receive these vaccinations as soon as possible
