The Opportunity:
As a key member of the growing Advancement and Community Engagement (ACE) team at Branksome Hall, you will leverage your creativity and passion for storytelling and the written word to engage, excite and inspire the Branksome Hall community and inspire new audiences through a variety of forms of writing.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Associate Director, Marketing & Advancement Communications and working collaboratively with key Branksome Hall stakeholders, you’ll be responsible for developing all written materials across Branksome Hall’s Marketing and Advancement portfolio with a heavy focus on materials in support of Branksome Hall’s current campaign, the most ambitious fundraising effort in its 118-year history.
Campaign:
- Draft and finalize Branksome’s brand, sub-brand and Campaign proposition language;
- Write campaign promotional and communication materials including web copy, newsletters, social media posts, donor stories, gift announcements, leadership speaking notes and speech writing, sponsorship and speaker proposals, donor proposals, reports and one-pagers;
- Support the Manager, Stewardship when required with stewardship material copy development including donor reports, buckslips and thank-you letters;
- Support the Annual Fund lead when required with fundraising material copy including segmented donor letters and follow-ups;
- Support the Associate Director, Marketing and Advancement Communications through the development of written materials required for BH Board of Governors presentations.
Admissions and Branksome Hall Business Ventures
- Prepare and contribute to admissions cycle promotional assets including viewbooks, welcome kits, inbound marketing emails, website copy, pamphlets, brochures, presentations, video scripting, posters, signage, paid advertising and advertorial;
- Draft Signature Event promotional copy including save-the-dates, invitations, reminders, website copy and school leadership script-writing, in support of the Communications team as required;
- Prepare and contribute to promotional materials for Branksome Hall camps, swim programs and venues including website copy, signage, posters, brochures, emails, event/camp listings.
Alum Communications:
- Contribute to The READ (2x annual alum print magazine), by writing feature stories;
- Write all stories for The Road (3x annual online newsletter);
- Write copy required for all alum E-blasts, BH website and alum related social media posts.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in journalism, creative writing, or other related field;
- 4-5 years professional writing experience;
- Experience in a variety of writing capacities (e.g. creative/editorial/promotional/official writing);
- Design sensibility & proficiency in photoshop and/or other design software is an asset;
- Ability to create compelling and impactful communications/stories;
- Ability to build strong relationships across a range of stakeholder groups;
- Adaptable, flexible and the ability to respond to multiple demands;
- Strong team player, and comfortable working independently;
- Creative with an innovator’s mindset;
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
