Do It Yourself Prospect Research

October 20, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Discover research methods you can take back to your shop today!

Join Tracey Church in this DIY prospect research session where she will discuss the holistic way researchers approach identification of prospects and donors for your organization.

Despite being in a relatively restrictive country when it comes to freedom of information, there are many resources available to you (free and subscription) that will help you to get to know more about your current donors and future prospective donors than you ever thought possible. We will look at ways to determine initial affinity and capacity ratings based on corporate revenue and giving guidelines, foundation assets and funding interests, wealth indicators for the individuals, and how to identify new major giving donors (and others too – like blended/integrated prospects!). Learn also about research staging where the level of research required matches the cultivation cycle to be more time efficient.

This session will bring out the curious prospect researcher in everyone!

Attend this session to:

  • Acquire more knowledge of what prospect research resources are available in Canada
  • Think more holistically when researching regarding donor-centered research (no silos here!)
  • Learn how to stage research to be more time efficient with restricted (human) resources
  • Be entered in a book draw for a copy of Apra Canada’s Prospect Research in Canada: An Essential Guide for Researchers and Fundraisers (Civil Sector Press, 2016)
