Important News About Your AFP Membership

Dear AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter Members,

For the first time since 2007, AFP Golden Horseshoe will be increasing its membership dues. Although the Chapter has been able to keep membership dues steady for a number of years, the increase is needed now to offset rising expenses and to continue to meet the expectations of fundraising professionals for expanded offerings in professional development. The cost of an individual professional membership will increase from the current $250 plus chapter dues of $50 to $250 plus chapter dues of $75. The $75 chapter due also applies to Retired and Associate Members. The new rates are effective April 1, 2016.

Your 2016 AFP Golden Horseshoe membership will give you access to educational events, bursaries, mentorship opportunities, and peer networks that can help you grow as a fundraiser. As well, we are advocating for you on a Federal level for the further advancement of philanthropy in Canada. Your chapter dues support these efforts. This year we've decided to offer two new bursaries of $500 each towards CFRE Certification to support members seeking certification plus we are continuing to offer bursaries for the AFP Golden Horseshoe Fundamentals of Fundraising Course (offered in Kitchener-Waterloo this spring), AFP Congress in Toronto, and the Chamberlain Scholarship to attend the 2017 AFP International Conference valued at $7,800. We also have two new educational events planned for this spring moderated and led by well-respected industry professionals. More details to follow shortly. And of course, we will continue to host our incredibly popular National Philanthropy Day Awards and Luncheon in November. We believe AFP Golden Horseshoe Chapter membership will continue to provide you with all the guidance and opportunities you may be seeking.

We are excited with our 2016 offerings and look forward to continuing to provide you with the membership benefits you need to develop your fundraising career. I invite you to contact me at anytime at aliroger@hhsc.ca.

Thank you for your service and dedication to our sector.
