Trillium Health Partners Foundation is in the planning stages of a landmark, transformational campaign to expand our hospital and help build a new kind of health care for generations to come.  We are seeking a Senior Director, Corporate Partnerships & Campaign to join our team, taking a lead role in growing our corporate fundraising and in achieving the success of our comprehensive $300 million + campaign.

This new role within our team will appeal to those who are flexible and open to creativity as the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the position’s overarching accountability based their experience.

As a collaborative member of the Foundation’s Executive Team (FET), the Senior Director will play an integral role in advancing our comprehensive campaign with a focus on inspiring support from the corporate sector and developing and implementing strategies to support campaign infrastructure, including management of senior level volunteer leadership.  This role will also contribute to building a culture of philanthropy within our internal hospital community by establishing a medical philanthropy program and a vendor giving strategy.

The Senior Director will report to Steve Hoscheit, the Foundation CEO with a dotted line to Nicole Lamont, Vice President, Philanthropy and will work in close collaboration with the Foundation’s senior leaders, fundraising teams, and volunteers.  Additional staff resources will be added to this team as the portfolio grows.

Trillium Health Partners was formed in 2011 through the amalgamation of the Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre (Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre), and serves the 2.4 million people of the Halton and Peel regions, the city of Mississauga, and west Toronto.

Trillium Health Partners envisions a new approach to health – an interconnected system of care that is organized around the patient, both inside the hospital and beyond its walls.  An approach that provides excellent care today and continued leadership for improving care tomorrow.  A system that works with and for patients.

In a very short time, our health care innovations have had significant patient-first impact.  From cardiology to cancer care, health care research to medical education, Trillium Health Partners is transforming the ways that Canadian health care is delivered, taught, and researched.

With more than 1.6 million patient visits annually and over 11,500 staff, doctors, and volunteers, Trillium Health Partners (THP) is one of the largest hospitals in the country.  Our three hospital sites, Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre are responsible for the entire city of Mississauga.  In addition, we serve the residents of Oakville, Peel Region, and west Toronto.

Our hospital offers the full range of services (including the regional centres for Cancer Care, Cardiac, Stroke & Neurosciences and Paediatrics) and ranks amongst the highest in Ontario.  With of our size and scope, we are able to affect real change across the entire health care continuum, and are regarded as leaders in system redesign.  We are committed to making patients partners in their care, creating patient-centred spaces, and partnering with other providers to ensure we provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time.


The launch of The Mississauga Academy of Medicine in August 2011 reflected a pivotal partnership between the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and Trillium Health Partners.  It provides a unique opportunity for the next generation of physicians to train in a new community-based campus in a community-hospital environment, with access to specialized regional programs.  It enrolls over 200 students per year, and graduates over 50 annually.

Research & Innovation

Five years ago, our hospital set out a vision to create a new kind of health care for a healthier community.  With this in mind, the Institute for Better Health (IBH) was established in 2013.  The IBH is committed to building a “Research & Innovation” program that can work on solving the larger issues that burden our health care system.  As a research institute built right into the workings of the hospital, the IBH focuses on improving health systems by developing innovative solutions that improve the care journey for patients, their families, and the providers that care for them.

The IBH has grown to include 25 team members, attracting top talent from across North America.  The IBH supports the advancement of diverse research across the hospital – all with the intention of improving health and transforming care.  In the 3 years since its inception, the IBH has built a strong foundation from which we will shape the future of health research and innovation in our community.  From welcoming our first scientists and launching our first projects, to receiving our first grants and awards, we are rapidly building our programs, capacities, and expertise.

Massive Infrastructure Expansion

Our community has one of the most ethnically diverse, fastest growing populations in North America.  With an estimated addition of 650,000 residents by 2035, our unmatched patient volumes will only increase.  To help us meet these demands, it was recently announced in the 2017 provincial budget that THP has been given funding approval to expand our Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre.  This significant, long-term infrastructure commitment will allow for expansion of our Mississauga Hospital and Queensway Health Centre sites.  The plan will add over 500 new hospital beds and replace over 500 existing beds.  The redevelopment plan will involve a new acute care tower at the Mississauga Hospital and new post-acute complex at the Queensway Health Centre.

In the meantime, THP will continue to address capacity challenges as a result of growing demand for health care services and aging infrastructure.

Trillium is working with the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network and other health service providers to develop new innovative care models to increase capacity including; the development of a Seniors ’ Health Campus, expanding bundled care programs, and partnership with Runnymede Health Care.

We are now in the planning stages of a large-scale comprehensive campaign that will include local share of a significant hospital expansion at two of our sites (as announced in the 2017 provincial budget); fuel research, innovation & education; and generate funds for all thirteen clinical areas in support of the Hospital’s strategic priorities.  Our campaign will comprise our entire organization’s operations serving as a public face of our fundraising priorities and creating a sense of urgency for our community.

As an inspired and engaged team player, the Senior Director will be collaborative in their approach to supporting continued growth of both our culture and our campaign – an approach chosen to implore urgency, to measure success, and to advance the sustainable revenue generation capacity of our entire operation.

Organizational culture is critical to our success at Trillium Health Partners Foundation.  As a key member of the Foundation’s Executive Team, the Senior Director will embrace and embody our culture and values as represented in our ICARE philosophy of Inspiration, Courage, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.

The ideal candidate will work in partnership with our Philanthropy team to drive continued growth of the revenue generation capacity of the organization through our comprehensive campaign.  As with all leaders in our organization, the Senior Director will support and enable a full team effort toward attaining organizational goals.  The new incumbent will embrace the opportunity to work in a team focused environment to advance organizational objectives.

The successful candidate will possess recent campaign experience, ideally in institutional fundraising and preferably within a complex, multi-layered environment. 

The Senior Director will be comfortable in the C suite.  With business acumen and strategic thinking skills, the ideal candidate will develop traditional and non-traditional partnership structures to maximize the donor impact.  The new incumbent will have a solid track record nurturing relationships with high profile donors and volunteers, and will be attuned to our diverse cultural communities and sensitive to their philanthropic motivations.


In the context of a comprehensive campaign where all fundraising activity is allocated toward campaign goals, this new role will consult across the organization on campaign strategies leveraging their recent campaign experience.

Reporting to our Foundation President, with a dotted line to our VP, Philanthropy and working in collaboration with and in support of Campaign volunteers and staff, the Senior Director’s core responsibilities will include:


o Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to advance a pipeline of key prospects to achieve campaign goals.
o Create and execute the development of a Fortune 500 Company and Mississauga SME cultivation and solicitation plan.
o Serve as the lead relationship manager for our corporate sector prospective donors and prospects.
o Solicit and steward corporate gifts through transformational giving, major giving and sponsorship channels toward the achievement of a corporation’s greatest impact as a donor.
o Advise on named gift opportunities and donor recognition plans in order to maximize donor engagement.
o As a leader within the broader Foundation team, act as a collaborative resource, advisor and mentor to build fundraising capacity and to help instill best fundraising practices.

Senior Level Volunteer Leadership

o Play a key role in strategy development, identification, cultivation, recruitment, training, and ongoing support of campaign volunteers.
o Work directly with volunteer leadership to ensure that activities are on track, volunteers feel well-supported, and goals are being met.
o Facilitate regular individual meetings between volunteers, the VP, Philanthropy and the Foundation CEO.

Hospital Relationships

o Work with hospital management to develop a comprehensive vendor strategy to advance meaningful, philanthropic partnerships with THP stakeholders and suppliers.
o Develop and manage effective partnerships with key stakeholders within the hospital to enable the campaign and major gift opportunities.
o In collaboration with Foundation Executive Team, continuously create a culture of philanthropy within our community and hospital.
o In conjunction with the Philanthropy team, develop and execute a Physician campaign & grateful patient referral program.


o Liaise and work closely with Campaign Counsel (KCI) on campaign plans, meeting preparation, progress reports, benchmark reviews and other tasks as needed.
o Leveraging campaign experience, advise and support the development and implementation of campaign procedures, policies, and operating plans in order to ensure highest professional standards for enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.
o Leveraging campaign experience, collaborate with other internal teams in the development of the case for support and the cultivation materials needed to inspire investment in healthcare in our community.
o Provide guidance and mentorship to Foundation teams on the development, planning and execution of fundraising campaigns to establish and maintain fundraising momentum and capacity, and achieve specified campaign objectives.



o Proven success with elements of campaign management or corporate engagement and partnership development experience.
o Previous successful campaign planning and management experience and demonstrated ability to set and exceed ambitious fundraising goals.
o Demonstrated experience and success managing, motivating, and mentoring volunteers and philanthropy professionals, bringing out the best in teams and individuals.


o Inspired and passionate about health care, and the critical role philanthropy plays in advancing this sector.
o Ability to understand the needs and interests of corporate donors in order to develop mutually beneficial relationships with the hospital and Foundation.
o Interest in all aspects of health and a dedication to promoting Trillium Health Partners’ fundraising priorities by helping to create excellent working relationships with medical staff, senior administrative leaders, volunteers and other Foundation staff.
o Maturity, tact and diplomacy; excellent judgment and discretion; political astuteness.
o An engaging personal style and a sincere interest in people.
o Patience, openness, and a willingness to listen.

o Knowledge of Mississauga and West Toronto, as well as the broader Peel Region and GTA is a benefit but is not expressly required.

Learning Accomplishments/Fundraising Skills

o University or College degree.
o Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation or working toward is considered an asset.
o Comprehension of donor management systems (Raiser’s Edge or RENXT).
