AFP Golden Horseshoe Fundamentals of Fundraising Course

The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course was developed with a foundation from the Essentials of Fundraising Program and the First Course and is composed of seven modules that have been designed by experienced fundraising professionals to meet the real-world needs and challenges nonprofit organizations face every day. This 16 hour program includes case studies and projects for groups and individuals, making the learning experience both substantive and enjoyable. The AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course offers a complete overview of the development function, featuring the most current information and techniques.
Within the course interface, you will have access to a glossary of fundraising terms and numerous resource documents that will be referenced throughout the course. You will even view a sample video of making “the ask” from experts in the field!
This in-person program will provide an overview of skills, techniques and program components for individuals with 0 to 4 years of fundraising experience. Full participation in the AFP Fundamentals of Fundraising Course is applicable for 16.0 points of CFRE Credit in Category 1.B – Education of the CFRE International application for initial certification and/or recertification.

Non-members - $560, including continental breakfast and lunch both days

Ed Sluga, CFRE, PGgrowth's President, is one of Canada's most experienced Planned Giving professionals and has had extensive experience operating all types of fundraising programs for local, regional and national not-for-profit organizations. For over 20 years, he has helped hundreds of organizations from across the country develop and benefit from long-term, sustainable and proactive fundraising programs. Ed has held the positions of Vice-President, Major and Planned Gifts for the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, Executive Director of The Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, National Director of Planned Giving and Philanthropy Services for the CNIB and Head of Advancement for St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School as well as consulting in all areas of fund development and donor engagement. Ed has always focused on developing organizational structures and operations so that they are positioned to experience success for the long-term with the chief motivation in helping organizations achieve the goals of their mission within their communities.
Ed is the co-author of Worthy and Prepared along with Peter Barrow, was a contributor to the Vigilant Fundraiser and has a podcast - The PGgrowth Planned Giving Podcast - on all things related to Planned Giving that can be found on iTunes, Google Play and on the PGgrowth website at www.pggrowth.com
Rob Henderson, Executive Director of Advancement at Wycliffe College (University of Toronto), has been making "asks" for over 20 years. Rob brings a unique perspective having spent a significant time raising funds in church and faith-based organizations. He served in the department of Church Funding Services at Navion Financial Development as Associate from 1997-2000 and has since led numerous diocesan and church studies and stewardship initiatives across Canada. Stewardship is Rob's forte, and he regularly teaches and conducts conferences on the subject. Rob's work at Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto has encompassed leadership of the college's largest capital campaign in 2008, and continues to guide growth in annual giving and legacy giving to the college.
