Lorna Somers Presents: "30 over 30: Reflections on Back to the Future!"

"30 over 30: Reflections on Back to the Future!"

Under the heading, "Quotes that make no sense yet do" comes this classic:

"The future will be better tomorrow!"

And indeed it will be if we can objectively reflect on lessons from the past, assess where we stand today and contemplate where we aspire to be tomorrow and just what it will take to get us there. Let's enjoy a little time travel as we consider those blasts from the past that will position us for success in the future and jettison those practices that have seen their day!

After 30 years of fundraising, Lorna Somers has seen it all. Let her take you on a fundraising journey...one that will make you rethink, recharge and perhaps, redo.

A bit about Lorna Somers...

Lorna has been working in University Advancement at McMaster University since 1988. During that time, she has been involved in the establishment and growth of the Annual Fund, Gift Planning and Major and Principal Giving. She has been Campaign Director for two university-wide comprehensive campaigns. Lorna currently focuses her attention on working closely with senior academic leaders and volunteers to secure principal level gifts, most notable among them, the largest cash gift to a Canadian university.

Somers complements the depth of her experience at McMaster with the breadth of a commitment to teaching and training that takes her around the globe. She works throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North and Central America with academics and board members as well as colleagues in Advancement - both in higher education and the charitable sector. Volunteer work has included National Chair of Canadian Association of Gift Planners and Board Trustee and Chair of the International Committee for the Council of Advancement and Support of Education. Along with co-author Dr. Frank Minton, Lorna wrote the definitive volume entitled, Planned Giving for Canadians, after many editions, still among the best-selling books on fundraising in Canada.
